ANGELA LENEHAM

Cert IV (WTA), DipT(Prim and Spec), GradDipECE

Angela Leneham is one of the founding directors of The Tertiary PLACE Inc.

Angela is a knowledgeable special educator with extensive personal experience in the field of disabilities.  She is also trained in Facilitated Communication.  Angela has worked in both mainstream and special education settings across all years of schooling and has spent considerable time with senior students, including those transitioning to post-school options.

In her many years of teaching, Angela has seen how animals can foster academic and social learning and bring about positive outcomes for students and animals alike.  Seeing the positive impact that animals can have led Angela to acquire a therapy dog, teach the nationally accredited Certificate 1 in Animal Studies and to undertake current studies of a Certificate III in Companion Animal Studies.

Angela is familiar and experienced in performing arts, having participated in numerous amateur theatrical productions at all levels (writing, directing, producing, choreographing, marketing, set design and construction and costume design and creation).  She has a passion to provide performing arts experiences for people who have disabilities and has directed more than ten successful special needs plays.

Angela has taken time out from her successful teaching career to establish The Tertiary PLACE.

NONA WESTENRIEDER

BA(German, EngLangStuds), GradDipEd(Sec)

Nona Westenrieder is a co-founding director of The Tertiary PLACE Inc.

Nona is an educator with a particular interest in language and culture.  She has taught German language and culture to primary and secondary students and is interested in the cultures of the world (food, language, traditions, celebrations, the people and the places).  It is Nona's belief and experience that an appreciation of culture enhances one's social interactions and develops mutual understanding.

One of Nona's driving beliefs in helping to establish The Tertiary PLACE is the fact that individuals with disabilities are capable of, and have a right to, lifelong learning.

With vast personal experience, Nona understands the daily demands of living with people who have disabilities.  Nona is confident interacting and communicating with individuals who have disabilities, and is trained in Facilitated Communication.

Nona also has a passion for the performing arts.  She has participated in many amateur productions and most recently helped produce two successful community plays for people who have disabilities.  Nona recognises that the performing arts offer a particular benefit to individuals who have disabilities.

Nona is excited to lend her skills, interests and expertise to members of The Tertiary PLACE.
